Mission Statement
We are called
to be a caring Christian community
who actively influence our world,
leading people to a genuine, maturing relationship
with Jesus Christ.
We believe...
- the Bible is not just another book but the Word of God, written by men
inspired to write what they wrote by God. Through this book God has revealed
His love and His plan to mankind, and from this book we learn how to love
God and each other. (1 Thessalonians 2:13,
2 Timothy 3:16)
- there is one God, the Creator of all things, who exists beyond the
limits of time and space as three persons revealed to mankind as God the
Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4;
Matthew
28:19,
Hebrews 1:3)
- creation has been fatally corrupted by mankind’s rebellion against God,
which the bible calls “sin”. Every human being is affected by this
corruption and unable to fix the problem by their own effort. (Romans 3:23,
Romans 5:12-19)
- God the Son took on human flesh as the man known as Jesus. He revealed
His divinity to mankind through His miraculous birth, perfect life,
miraculous works, and resurrection from the dead. (Luke 1:31-35,
Acts 2:22,
1 Peter 2:22)
- through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God has made a way for
mankind to be set free from the corruption of sin. This freedom is made
available to all who trust in Him and obey His word. (John 14:6,
Galatians
5:16-25)
- followers of Jesus are expected to be baptized in water as a public sign
of their trust in God, to regularly gather together with other believers for
worship, and to take part in the ceremony of communion to commemorate Jesus’
death and resurrection. Their behavior should be guided by God’s
instructions. (Matthew 28:19,
1 Corinthians 11:23-26,
Colossians 3:12-17,
Romans 6:1-11)
- the Holy Spirit is present in the life of all who trust in God and
offers empowerment and spiritual gifts to those who seek Him so that they can
be more effective in serving God. (Acts 1:4-8,
Acts 2:4,
Galatians 5:22-24)
- God hears and answers prayer, and those answers sometimes take the form
of supernatural occurrences such as miracles and divine healing. (1 Peter
2:24,
James 5:13-16)
- Jesus has promised to return to earth, to judge all who have ever lived,
to grant eternal life to those who trust in Him, and to finally and
completely undo the corruption of creation. (Titus 2:13,
Revelation
20:11-15)
